ANZ Poetry and Bush Music - About the Event

Bush poetry is Australian, written about Australia and Australians through an Australian's eyes.

Enjoy Bush Poets, singers, musicians, entertainers in the street, on the stage and around the campfire. Let history, poetry and music run through your blood and visit ‘Banjo's Block' for three days of poetry recitals and a taste of real Australian Bush Culture at its best. Enjoy the sounds of the banjo, violin, tin whistle and accordion and relive the legend. Poets' Breakfasts are held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings. Theme concerts and walk-up spots available for performers and great fun for onlookers.

Three finalists will recite ‘The Man from Snowy River ' at Banjo's Block, followed by ‘Jack Riley Heritage' section and Yarn Spinning around the campfire on Friday evening.

Saturday hosts spirited competition starting with Poetry in the morning to Aussie Comedy in the evening, followed by a concert. Everyone can then look forward to a finale and ‘Sing-Along by the Billabong' at Colac Colac Caravan Park .

On Sunday, there's the One-Minute Poem, where 20 people buy a topic and write a poem that they read/recite in one minute flat. Prizes are awarded before a lunchtime concert. Everyone can then look forward to a finale and ‘Singalong by the Billabong' at Colac Colac Caravan Park .

Geoffrey Graham is 'The Man from Ironbark', appeared as Banjo at our first Festival in 1995. - www.dinkumoz.com 'Jack Riley, Bushman Game' a book of poems which won prizes or fit the Jack Riley Heritage criteria is available at the festival for $11.
