How do I become a MFSR Volunteer?

The Man From Snowy River Bush Festival recognises that a professional approach to recruitment and selection helps us to attract, appoint and retain individuals with the necessary skills and attributes to fulfil our aims and support our business goals of delivering our Festival successfully.

Many individuals work harmoniously together to successfully deliver the Festival. In 2022, 294 people worked behind the scenes in various capacities to ensure everything that needed to happen did! This included MFSR Board Members and MFSR Staff; MFSR Volunteers (430 in 2021); Sponsors; emergency services, contractors as well as local service and community groups.

MFSR Volunteers have the opportunity to get involved in all levels of Festival management. They may assist with set-up; assisting to deliver events and ancillary services throughout the Festival event itself and/or to dismantle. MFSR Volunteers are the heart and soul of our festival, and in many ways the Festival belongs to the fun loving community-minded individuals who get involved and become part of our Festival family. Our MFSR Volunteers are true LEGENDS!

Why Volunteer?

Ask any of our MFSR Volunteers who return year after year why and you’ll be amazed at their range of answers. Crossing over from being an audience member to being part of the Festival team means you are part of the strong knit group that makes it happen. The friendships, the camaraderie, the sense of community and the shared laughter that come out of working at the Festival more than compensates for giving up a few hours out of each day.

Applications open on 1st October each year. Existing MFSR volunteers will be invited to re-apply and join us once again for the 2025 MFSR Volunteer team.

The Man from Snowy River Bush Festival offers a unique opportunity to be part of the celebrations of traditional Australian bush skills that remain an essential part of our Australian heritage. The Festival requires 330 MFSR Volunteers working under Event Managers, Team Leaders and MFSR Staff to ensure the ultimate success of the event.
